Research and Background

My area of research is Human Factors in transportation safety. Within this domain, I have three major research thrusts: (1) implementing driver feedback and training systems, (2) using computational models for data analysis, and (3) leveraging social influence for behavior change. With (1), I aim to design and test intervention programs that improve driving behavior. This research is highly relevant for vulnerable drivers as well as newer vehicle technology. In (2), I focus on applying techniques from other domains (e.g., agent based modeling and exponential graph modeling) to the area of transportation safety. The research done in (3) aims to use both social influence and social networking techniques to promote positive changes in driving behavior.

I am also interested in exploring new areas such as studying and mitigating impaired driving, analyzing Human Factors issues within vehicle cyber security, and using data mining approaches to analyze textual data.
