Course Description:
Mass DOT’s new 460 specification can help you construct better bid documents for your next asphalt paving bid. This course will cover proper bid proposals, the 460 specification, as well as assorted topics that influence the contractor's response to your RFQ’s. Techniques will be discussed that can produce better bid prices and allow for better construction of your roadways. A proposed bid form and all required paperwork will be supplied for your use in your next asphalt bid.
Target Audience:
Municipal personnel developing project bids, senior managers in the DPW, anyone working with MassDOT's Chapter 90 engineers, and anyone interested in learning more about this process.

Executive Director at
Jim Reger is a seasoned executive with more than 45 years of experience in the paving and construction materials industry. For the last nine years, Jim has been the Executive Director of the Massachusetts Aggregate and Asphalt Producers Association, managing the technical operations of 17 asphalt producing companies with 75 operations in Massachusetts and Rhode Island. Previously, Jim was the President of P.J. Keating Co., where he developed award winning projects and managed asphalt operations and safety at four locations. Finally, Jim has various professional associations including but not limited to the Construction Industries of Massachusetts, the National Asphalt Pavement Association, and the State Asphalt Pavement Association.
