Overview
This instructor-led course will introduce participants to asphalt pavement construction best practices, from the importance of project responsibilities to the most vital elements of laydown operations and compaction. Participants learn construction management responsibilities; recognize proper construction practices; identify construction issues and their sources; determine the impact of construction issues on performance; and select communication strategies for contractors, consultants, and superiors. This knowledge can then be applied to maximize the quality of your construction projects.
Participants must attend both sessions for full credit.
Part 1: Site and Subsurface Preparation • October 9, 2020 • 9:00am-11:00am
Topics covered will include site selection/prep techniques, subsurface prep, milling and tining.
Part 2: Placement • October 23, 2020 • 9:00am-11:00am
Topics covered will include laydown, compaction, rolling, density, joint construction, sampling and testing, and tack coat.
