IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Following the announcement by Governor Charlie Baker on March 10 declaring a State of Emergency given the nature of COVID-19 in the Commonwealth, the 2020 MassDOT Transportation Innovation Conference will not be occurring this April. This decision was made in response to the Governor’s request that Executive Branch Agencies adopt precautionary measures.
MassDOT and the UMass Transportation Center would like to thank all of our sponsors, stakeholders, and participants for helping us with the 2020 conference planning. We hope this email provides you with the adequate time to address any changes in your own plans as they relate to the conference. Arrangements may be made for shipment and storage of exhibitor displays to The DCU Center prior to the conference. There will be handling charges depending on the weight of the package(s). Mobility Track
Join us on Wednesday, April 8, for the Community Transportation and Mobility Track!
MassDOT’s 2020 Transportation Innovation Conference features a Community Transportation and Mobility track, focusing on creative approaches to improving access, mobility, and transportation services for older adults, people with disabilities, and low-income commuters in Massachusetts. This track grew out of the Massachusetts Community Transportation Coordination Conference. For more information on community transportation in Massachusetts, visit MassMobility.

Fee Waiver Opportunities for Community Mobility Organizations and Advocates
Limited fee waivers are available to facilitate attendance by self-advocates and other community mobility stakeholders. If you are interested in local and regional community transportation and transportation coordination but cannot pay the conference registration fee, you may be eligible for a fee waiver or scholarship. Fee waivers are limited, so please apply as soon as possible if you are interested.
Fee Waiver Application for Self-Advocates and Grantees
• Open to individuals with disabilities, seniors, and other self-advocates who experience transportation challenges OR organizations that are current or recent recipients of grants through MassDOT’s Community Transit Grant Program.
• Apply for the Transportation Innovation Conference Fee Waiver.
• You do not need to register for the conference. If you receive the scholarship, you will be automatically registered.
• You will hear back within three weeks if you have received the fee waiver or are on a waitlist.
Scholarship for Rural Transportation Providers
• Organizations that provide transportation in in rural and non-urbanized areas – including Councils on Aging – should apply for reimbursement through the MArtap scholarship program.
• Please apply by March 20.
• This is a two-step process. First, register and pay for the conference on the Registration tab. Then apply for the MArtap scholarship for reimbursement at www.mass.gov/forms/martap-scholarship-application. Make sure to specify that you are applying for the MassDOT Transportation Innovation Conference in order to attend the mobility track sessions.
Other Fee Waivers
If you do not qualify under these criteria but need assistance paying the conference fee, please contact Rachel Fichtenbaum at rachel.fichtenbaum@state.ma.us to be added to a waitlist should additional funds become available (not guaranteed).

Directions and Parking
The DCU Center's street address is 50 Foster Street, Worcester, MA 01608.
Public Transit:
The MBTA commuter rail, Peter Pan, and Greyhound come in to Union Station, Worcester. The DCU Center is less than half a mile from Union Station. Visit www.mbta.com and click “commuter rail lines” to get the train schedule.
From the train, enter the building from the platform. Use the stairs or elevator to go downstairs and follow the signs to the Peter Pan bus area. Exit the building into the Peter Pan bus area. You will see the Worcester Regional Transit Authority (WRTA) bus hub in front of you. Walk to the hub if you would like to take a local bus to the DCU Center.
WRTA bus 23, 26, and 30 go from the Hub to St. Vincent’s Hospital. From St. Vincent’s, cross the street to get to the DCU Center. Visit www.therta.com for bus schedules. Full fare is $1.75. You can pay with a Charlie Card.
To walk to the DCU Center from Union Station, first, follow the directions above to get to the Peter Pan bus area. Exit the building, cross the bus area, and walk up to the intersection of Foster St. and Front St. Cross the intersection. Keeping the St. Vincent’s Hospital Cancer Care center on your left, walk down Foster St. towards the DCU Center. At the intersection of Foster St. and Major Taylor Blvd., cross the street to get to the DCU Center. Enter at door #2 for registration.
Paratransit
Eligible riders can use the WRTA paratransit service to get from Union Station to the DCU Center.
Riders who are enrolled in the WRTA paratransit can call 1-7 days in advance to schedule your trip.
Riders who are enrolled in ADA paratransit for a different transit authority can apply for visitor status to use the WRTA paratransit. To begin, call your transit authority and ask them to send your eligibility documents to WRTA. For example, if you use the MBTA RIDE program, you would call THE RIDE Eligibility Center and ask them to send your ADA Certificate of Eligibility to WRTA. Then call WRTA, ask for visitor status, and work with them to schedule your trip from Union Station to the DCU Center. The WRTA paratransit phone number is (508) 752-9283 or 1 (877) 743-3852. Please start the visitor status process as soon as possible – and no later than early March – to allow sufficient time to process paperwork.
