Research and Background

Dr. Shama is a full professor, graduate and continuing education coordinator in Department of Mathematics at Bridgewater State University, USA. She is the Co-Director of the GeoGraphics Laboratory and holds a joint appointment in the Department of Computer Science at the University. She has been teaching at the University for 30 years and has been a Co-Director of the Laboratory with Mr. Lawrence Harman for 21 years. As Co-Director of the Laboratory, she has been the co-principal investigator for applied research projects in mobility management technology for the U.S. Department of Transportation (Federal Transit Administration and Research and Innovative Technology Administration), the Commonwealth of Massachusetts (Massachusetts Department of Transportation, the Massachusetts Rehabilitation Commission, Massachusetts Department of Transitional Assistance) and several regional transit agencies, including the Cape Cod Regional Transit Authority, the MetroWest Regional Transit Authority, the Greater Attleboro-Taunton Regional Transit Authority and the Brockton Area Transit. Over the past 21 years, she has authored numerous professional papers and technical reports, presented project research findings and conducted technical assistance and training on mobility management technology with her colleague and co-director, Mr. Harman.
