Upper Great Plains Transportation Institute Webinar: The Mountain Rules - Colorado's Safety Communication Efforts with the Trucking Industry
Upper Great Plains Transportation Institute will be hosting a webinar on Tuesday, September 26th, 2023 at 3:30 Eastern Time (2:30 CT, 1:30 MT, 12:30 PT) on The Mountain Rules: Colorado's Safety Communication Efforts with the Trucking Industry.
The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT), in partnership with the Colorado State Patrol (CSP), Colorado Motor Carriers Association (CMCA), and in-cab driver alert providers, have a shared aim to help enhance safety for truckers traveling through the state’s mountainous areas. Through this shared aim and resulting coordinated approach, The Mountain Rules campaign was born.
This program is a comprehensive, strategic and safety-focused effort to inform and educate in-state and inter-state trucking companies and drivers on the challenges of driving in Colorado’s mountains. It includes information on preventing and avoiding hazards, resources to consider, and a consistent reminder to drive slowly and steadily to be safe for the long haul.
This webinar will introduce the safety campaign videos followed by a discussion of the process to partner with different agencies to get this safety message out and save lives.
Presenters:
- Craig Hurst, Manager, CDOT Freight Office
- Capt. John Hahn, Commander, Motor Carrier Safety Section, Colorado State Patrol
